Georg Fischer was founded in 1802 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, when Johann Conrad Fischer established a small copper smelting works and iron foundry. The company soon became known for producing cast iron fittings and components, which formed the backbone of Europe’s growing water distribution networks in the 19th century.
